An ad for an element
Students prepare an ad for an element, including properties and uses, in an attention getting format such as that used in the advertising business.
A lesson plan for grades 9–12 Science
Learning outcomes
Students will:
- become familiar with properties of elements
- to recognize the historical aspects of chemistry
- to be able to use information from the periodic table
Teacher planning
Time required for lesson
3 hours
Materials/resources
- poster board
- markers
- instruction handout
- pictures from magazines or from the internet
I have had students request to do a video commercial, which turned out great!
Technology resources
computers with internet access
Pre-activities
Each student selects a different element.
